Chemical Skin Peels in West Yorkshire: Which Peel Is Right for Your Skin?

Chemical skin peels are one of the most versatile and effective treatments available at Anastasia Beauty Aesthetics in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. Whether you're dealing with acne, pigmentation, dull skin, or early signs of ageing, there's a peel formulated specifically for your concern. In this guide, Nurse Lesley Bell breaks down every type of peel we offer and helps you understand which one is right for you.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel uses carefully selected acids to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin, stimulating cell renewal and revealing fresher, healthier skin beneath. The depth of the peel — superficial, medium, or deep — determines how dramatically the skin is resurfaced and how much downtime is involved. At our West Yorkshire clinic, we offer a full range from gentle lunchtime peels to more intensive medium-depth treatments.

Superficial Peels: The Lunchtime Option

Superficial peels work on the outermost layer of the skin (the epidermis) and require little to no downtime. They're ideal for regular maintenance, skin brightening, and addressing mild concerns. You can return to work the same day — hence the nickname 'lunchtime peel'.

Glycolic Acid Peel (20% / 40%)

Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane. It has the smallest molecular size of all AHAs, allowing it to penetrate deeply and effectively. Our glycolic peels improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, brighten dull skin, and help fade pigmentation. Suitable for most skin types, with the 40% concentration offering more intensive results for experienced peel clients.

Lactic Acid Peel (20% / 50%)

Lactic acid is a gentler AHA derived from milk. It exfoliates while simultaneously hydrating the skin, making it the ideal choice for dry, dehydrated, or sensitive skin types. Our lactic acid peels improve radiance, even skin tone, and soften fine lines without the potential irritation of stronger acids.

Salicylic Acid Peel (10%)

Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that is oil-soluble, meaning it can penetrate into the pores to dissolve sebum and clear congestion. It has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, making it the go-to peel for oily, acne-prone, or congested skin. Regular salicylic peels reduce breakouts, minimise pore appearance, and improve acne scarring over time.

Medium-Depth Peels: More Intensive Results

Jessner Peel (12%)

The Jessner peel is a combination formula containing glycolic acid, lactic acid, and kojic acid. This multi-acid approach targets pigmentation, acne, and photo-damaged skin more aggressively than single-acid peels. Some mild peeling or flaking may occur over 3-5 days, but the results — brighter, more even-toned skin — are worth it.

TCA Peel (10%)

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) penetrates into the upper dermis, stimulating collagen production and addressing deeper pigmentation, acne scarring, and more advanced photoaging. Our 10% TCA peel offers medium-depth results with manageable downtime of 5-7 days of peeling. This is our most powerful single-acid peel and delivers the most dramatic skin transformation.

BioRePeelCl3

BioRePeel is a revolutionary biphasic TCA peel that combines exfoliation with bio-stimulation. Unlike traditional TCA peels, it causes minimal visible peeling while still penetrating the upper dermis. It's ideal for clients who want medium-depth results without significant downtime — making it one of our most popular treatments for busy West Yorkshire clients.

Which Peel Is Right for You?

  • Dull, dehydrated skin → Lactic Acid Peel
  • Oily, acne-prone, congested skin → Salicylic Acid Peel
  • Fine lines and general skin ageing → Glycolic Acid Peel
  • Pigmentation and uneven tone → Jessner or TCA Peel
  • Acne scarring → TCA or BioRePeel
  • Sensitive skin wanting gentle results → Lactic Acid Peel
  • Maximum results with minimal downtime → BioRePeelCl3

The Importance of a Course of Peels

A single peel will improve your skin, but the most significant and lasting results come from a course of treatments. We typically recommend 4-6 peels spaced 2-4 weeks apart, combined with a targeted home skincare routine and daily SPF 50. This approach delivers cumulative improvement that continues to develop between sessions.
